Hej TUBA
Jeg skriver til jer da jeg har et stort problem med at give slip.
Mine forældre har ALTID drukket meget, da jeg var 6 gik det rigtigt op for mig at min mor var alkoholiker og min far begyndte for alvor da jeg fyldte 17-18 år.
Jeg taler med mine forældre minimum 1 gang hver eneste dag ( mest min far ) jeg er ikke klar over om det er for at sikre mig at de er i live, om det er et savn eller hvad det er.
Da mine forældre er alkoholikere ved jeg aldrig om det er en god eller en dårlig dag – det kender i nok… derfor bliver jeg meget ofte trukket ned i sølet når jeg ringer hjem og føler derefter at alt er uoverskueligt.
Jeg besøger SJÆLDENT mine forældre – jeg kan nemlig ikke overskue hvor forfærdeligt deres hus ser ud ( det er HELT ekstremt rodet og beskidt) og desuden begynder min mor at drikke hvis hun ved jeg kommer hjem… (suk)
Jeg har utallige gange sendt dem på behandlingshjem, taget dem til læge, psykolog og andet. Jeg har fikset deres hus fra bunden flere gange end jeg tør tænke på og måske generet taget et ALT for stort ansvar.
Som det er med alle andre børn af alkoholikere elsker jeg dem ufatteligt meget – specielt når de er ædru – og der er ikke det jeg ikke ville give for at de skulle være ædru bare en uge mere, sådan har jeg det altid…. og det er netop det der er problemet. Min kærestes familie og mine tætte venner tror ikke det er sundt for mig at jeg er så “afhængig” af kontakten til min far og mor og at jeg føler et behov for at passe godt på dem. Jeg kan godt se at jeg bruger frygteligt mange kræfter på dem – selv det at diskutere med dem igen og igen… Men samtidig føler jeg at jeg ikke at jeg har “råd” til at give op med at rede dem – tænk hvis jeg mistede dem og ville fortryde det resten af mit liv, jeg vil jo bare så gerne se dem ædru, er det virkelig så slemt :S

Kære du!
Jeg kan virkelig godt forstå, at du ønsker tingene var anderledes hos dine forældre. Det må være meget svært som datter, at være vidne til, den måde de har valgt at leve deres liv. Du lyder som en omsorgsfuld datter, der har en stor kærlighed til sine forældre, og vil dem det bedste. Men hvad med dig? Hvor er du henne i det her? Hvad er bedst for dig? Hvordan ser du gerne dit liv former sig?
Så når du spørger, hvad du skal gøre, tænker jeg, at det er spørgsmål i stil med dem, jeg lige har stillet, du skal starte med at stille dig selv. Det vil jeg komme tilbage til senere i mit svar.
Når jeg læser dit brev, tænker jeg, at du jo har gjort alt hvad du kunne for at hjælpe dine forældre. Hvad kan du gøre mere, som du ikke allerede har gjort? Realiteten er desværre, at du ikke har nogen reel magt over dine forældre. Hvis de skal stoppe med at drikke, skal beslutningen være helt deres egen, de skal eje den, og selv være motiverede. Du har gjort alt det du kunne, for at hjælpe dem i den proces.
Du spørger også om det er så slemt, at ønske at se sine forældre ædru. Det er det selvfølgelig ikke, det er meget menneskeligt, og vidner kun om, at du er et godt og omsorgsfuldt menneske. Men hvad med omsorgen for dig selv, hvor er den henne i det her? Og er der plads til omsorg for din kæreste, tætte venner og resten af din familie, eller sluger dine forældre alt din energi?
Hvis det var op til dig, er det klart, hvad der skulle ske, men det er det ikke, det er ene og alene op til dine forældre. Jeg er sikker på, at dine forældre elsker dig højt, men de vælger stadig at drikke selvom de ved, hvordan det påvirker dig, og der er en reel risiko for, at de vil fortsætte uanset hvad du gør.
Jeg stiller flere spørgsmål end jeg giver svar, fordi det kun er dig der kender svarene. Det kan godt virke lidt provokerende, hvis man nu gerne bare vil have et råd, men jeg tror, det bedste du kan gøre for dig selv er, at tænke rigtig meget over, hvordan du gerne vil have dit liv skal forme sig.
Hvis du ikke skulle bruge så mange kræfter på dine forældre?, hvad ville du så bruge din energi på?

Du kunne måske sætte dig ned og skrive to fremtidsscenarier for dig selv. Et hvor du fortsætter som du gør nu, med at bruge så frygtelig mange kræfter på dine forældre. Hvordan vil dit liv og dit forhold til dine andre kære så blive?
Et andet hvor du acceptere at dine forældre vælger at leve som de gør, og giver dig selv lov til, at leve dit liv, som du vil. Hvordan vil dit liv så tegne sig?
Jeg ved det lyder lettere sagt end gjort, men dit dilemma er et klassisk problem, vi ser her på TUBA. Børn der vil gøre alt for at se deres forældre blive ædru, og som føler sig skyldige og skamfulde, hvis de vælger deres eget liv. Men uanset hvad du vælger i dit liv, er der ingen garanti for, at dine forældre vil stoppe med at drikke, så er det ikke helt ok, at du gerne vil have mere ud af livet end dine forældre?
