Hej tuba jeg har lige nogle enkle spørgsmål jeg gerne vil snakke med jer om da det pludselig fylder lidt. Jeg er 25 år gammel og er for nyligt begyndt at gå til psykolog. Det har vist sig at være meget overvældende for mig, da det er som om at jeg lige pludselig skal se min barndom på en anden måde end det jeg havde lært det til at være. Jeg er vokset op i en familie med min mor, far og bror. Alkohol har altid betydet enormt meget, mine forældre lever for at feste og have det sjovt, og det var ikke noget mig og min bror skulle forhindre dem i at gøre. Vi havde gæster hver weekend, hvor folk blev fulde og musikken blev spillet højt til langt ud på natten. Jeg har været meget vand til et se mine forældre fulde, sørge for de kom i seng, at de ikke futtede huset af på grund af glemt mad der stod i ovn f.eks og mange flere oplevelser. I min familie er det enlig noget mine forældre altid har grint af og har lavet joke ud af, og selvfølgelig har det også ført videre til mig og min bror, at vi også ser let på det og bare griner af det. Den dag i dag har jeg nogle psykiske problemer, jeg har svært ved at være sammen med mange mennesker af gangen, jeg har fået lidt angst og tingene er generelt svære for mig at være i. Jeg er så forvirret da jeg jo elsker mine forældre utroligt meget og jeg enlig havde følt de var nogle gode forældre, men nu er jeg pludselig splittet omkring hvem jeg enlig er og hvad jeg enlig synes om mine forældre. Min psykolog mente at min bror og jeg har været ude for omsorgssvigt da vi var små, og hvis det var blevet opdaget var vi blevet tvangsfjernet. Det er utroligt svært og forvirrende for mig og høre, da jeg enlig havde på en måde overbevist mig selv om at ja der var alkohol i min familie men det har da hvertfald ikke påvirket mig. Men nu er jeg pludselig i tvivl. Jeg er så forvirret. Den dag i dag drikker mine forældre stadig hver weekend med deres venner, og jeg er faktisk tit på besøg hos dem for at drikke mig fulde med dem. I min familie er det helt normalt. Men nu føler jeg bare at alt er vendt på hovedet, og ved ikke hvad jeg skal gøre over den nye information. Skal jeg stoppe med at drikke med dem? Selvom mine forældre bliver fulde er de sådan set aldrig ubehagelige. Og jeg hygger virkelig når jeg er sammen med dem. Men føler mig pludselig så unormal og ja kan enlig godt se at mine forældre ikke har været der nok for os som små da de jo næsten var fulde hver weekend. Jeg har jo heller ikke lyst til at skulle ændre syn på mine forældre, da jeg jo elsker at være sammen med dem, og når jeg er sammen med dem involverer det bare tit alkohol, og på grund af den opvækst jeg har haft er jeg utrolig festlig den dag i dag.

Jeg kan virkelig godt forstå, at der er nogle spørgsmål og tanker, der begyndt at fylde for dig efter opstarten hos psykologen. Jeg synes slet ikke at det lyder mærkeligt, at det er overvældende for dig, at begynde at se din barndom med helt nye briller.
Du beskriver din situation rigtig fint ift. hvor forvirrende det pludselig er, at sidde med en ny information og erkendelse om din barndom og hvordan denne erkendelse nødvendiggør at du tager stilling til din relation til dine forældre på ny. Samtidig med denne nye erkendelse elsker du dine forældre højt og nyder deres festlige selskab. Disse nye spørgsmål og tanker har også givet dig en følelse af at være unormal. Så måske du også begynder at se dig selv på en ny måde?
Jeg tror, at det er positivt, at du har nået denne nye erkendelse af dit liv. Også selvom det nok gør ondt indeni. Du beskriver at der er nogle ting du bøvler med. I dag har du nogle psykiske problemer, har svært ved at være sammen med mange mennesker ad gangen, har lidt angst og så er tingene generelt svære for dig at være i. Jeg forestiller mig, at efter samtalerne med psykologen, er du er begyndt at koble dine nuværende udfordringer sammen med din barndom. Jeg tror at netop denne nye erkendelse giver dig muligheden for at handle på din situation og arbejde med dine udfordringer. For mig at se, er det en styrke, det du har gjort. Du har opstartet samtaler hos en psykolog og har skrevet herind. Det betyder at du har styrken til at tage imod hjælp og har lyst til at tingene skal blive bedre.
Jeg får lyst til at dele lidt at det, vi hører fra andre unge her i TUBA. Det håber jeg er okay. Mange unge, der vokser op i en familie med alkoholproblemer, oplever, at når der bliver ældre og eksempelvis flytter hjemmefra, så bliver man mere og mere bevidst om den baggrund, man kommer fra og hvilken betydning den har for en – fordi man får den på afstand og kommer i kontakt med omverdenen. Mange oplever også, at de følelser man måske plejede at undertrykke, overvælder en, fordi der er plads til dem nu hvor man ikke længere skal tænke på andres behov først. Måske kan du genkende noget af det?
Du beskriver at du er blevet forvirret – for hvad skal du stille op med denne nye information og skal du stoppe med at drikke med dine forældre? Du har egentlig altid tænkt, at dine forældres alkoholforbrug ikke havde påvirket dig, men nu er du begyndt at tænke lidt mere på det kæmpe ansvar, som din bror og du gentlig havde i jeres barndom. I skulle ofte sørge for at dine forældre kom i seng og huset ikke futtede af, når der var fest. Det har fået dig til at tænke, at måske var dine forældre der ikke helt nok for dig og din bror i jeres barndom.
Jeg tror ikke der er nogle nemme svar eller løsninger på din situation. Jeg tænker, at du lige nu har startet et rigtig stort og vigtigt arbejde op ved at gå til psykolog. Måske får du i en periode brug for at have mere afstand til dine forældre, måske er der noget du får brug for at tale med dem om. Det kan også være, at når du mærker efter, så er det ikke lige nu du skal holde fest og drikke med dem. Det ved kun du bedst og jeg er sikker på, at din psykolog kan hjælpe dig med at folde din situation og muligheder ud. Lige nu er du startet på den proces, hvor du skal finde ud af, hvordan du skal leve med denne nye bevidsthed om din opvækst og dine forældres rolle i den. Mange unge har gavn af at have en at tale med i den proces, du også er i gang med nu. Derfor har du gjort noget helt rigtigt. Der er mange måder at være i relation med drikkende forældre på og der er ingen løsning er universel rigtig eller forkert. Det vigtigste er, at du træffer nogle valg, der føles rigtige for dig. Et rigtigt valg kan godt være et svært valg og indeholde smerte. Og så tror jeg sagtens man kan føle en stor kærlig for sine forældre, til trods for den opvækst, de har givet en.
